NAWABI DUM ARBI - TRULY LAKHNAWI

Arbi (Taro),  is an amazing veggie can be made by variety of methods like cooking, boiling and steaming. Surprisingly this root has various health benefits. Its very low in calories and high in nutrients loaded with 17 amino acids and full of antioxidants. For weight less it keeps you full for longer time with high fiber content.

Ingredients First 😊



Let's Start ..

  • Boil 500 gms of taro in pressure cooker adding some salt to it.
  • Boil to keep it medium soft.
  • While the taro is boiling roast 1/2 bowl.
  • Peel the skin of roasted peanuts and add melon seeds to it, the grind it and keep aside.
  • Now when the taro is boiled, peel its skin.
  • Prick the taro with knife or fork on all sides.
  • Now to the taro add, 1 TSP kasmiri lal chilli,.
  • Add 1/2 TSP turmeric powder.
  • Add 1 TSP coriander powder.
  • Add 1/4 TSP black salt.
  • Add 1/2 TSP cumin powder.
  • Add 1/4 TSP black pepper powder.
  • Add 1/4 TSP chaat masala.
  • Add 1/2 TSP salt.
  • Now mix the taro well with all these spices and leave it to rest for 10-15 minutes.
  • After 15 minutes, take a pan and put 3 TBSP of oil in it and roast the taro in it.
  • Take another pan and add 3 TBSP mustard oil in it.
  • Add 1/2 TSP carom seeds, and also a pinch of asafoetida(heeng).
  • Now add 3-4 chopped garlic to it.
  • Add grated ginger about 1 TBSP, add 2 grated onions also.
  • Add 3 finely chopped green chilli.
  • Add 4 chopped tomatoes and 1/2 TSP salt to it.
  • Now in about 3-4 minutes add 2 TSP coriander powder, 1/2 TSP turmeric powder.
  • Add 1/2 TSP cumin powder, also add 1 1/2 TSP kashmiri lal chilli powder.
  • Now mix it well adding some water to it, a thick paste will be formed.
  • Now add the roasted peanut and melon seeds powder to it.
  • Add the roasted taro it and mix it.
  • Take 1 bowl curd and whisk it well for about 1 minute.
  • Now add the whisked curd to the pan.
  • Cover the pan and let it cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Remove the cover and add 1/2 glass water about 100 ml.
  • Add 1 TSP dry fenugreek(kasuri methi).
  • Add 1/4 tsp mango powder.
Garnish with coriander leaves and cream...
